Belonging to One Another
Today we celebrate!
My niece and her sweetheart marry.
Such a beautiful reason to come together today.
The blending of so many lives, so many stories, into the blessing of their new one with each other.
As I took in the festivities and the behind-the-scenes-goings-on, I was invited to contemplate the beauty, the love, the struggles, the gifts that each soul present was bringing to the weaving of such precious threads into the Great Tapestry: Joy and gratitude was in abundance. The careful tending, on many levels, of the wedding couple. The sometimes awkward but willing interactions of those unknown to one another. The coming together of loved ones scattered so far across the world. Noting the determination of some in attendance who struggle physically in their lives to function but whose desire to be present would not be deterred. The abundance of helping hands to support the myriad tasks engaged in such a gathering.
Love underlied all of it.
I could see the generous effort and offerings by so many in the unfolding of this sweet day.
And in that effort, I was also witness to the power of Love, to the choice to contribute to the blessing of these two truly beautiful and genuine young people AND to the community that we are all part of together.
So many contributed, in their own way, so that we all could not only enjoy this time, but that we could truly belong to it in its fullness, and to the care and keeping of one another.
It is, indeed, humbling and touching when any soul offers of themselves to connect with another, whether it be the one requesting or responding.
This day and this celebration was so beautifully full of precious life and deep story. It was truly an honor to witness the Love that was present by so many hearts.
My wish for my niece, her husband, and for us all:
As we reach out to touch and bless Life through our tender hearts, I pray that we allow Life to touch and grow us as well.
As we invite our lives to be lived through the Grace and Sacred Heart of the Beloved, may we weave a story that is deliciously rich with a multitude of experiences and through which we may discover the profound sweetness that is woven into both the mundane and the extraordinary.
May we all continue to show up to the best of our capacity in each moment.
May we hold one another tenderly, with invitation and belonging, that we may know Home within the Sacredness of Love’s Truth, through the many forms that it may arrive upon our doorstep.
